Moyes

Whether you are a Manchester United fan or not, you would surely know that rumours are running rife that the current Premier League Champions are considering sacking their current manager, David Moyes. And it seems these rumours have just picked up a notch, if ESPN sources are to be believed.

Look, there is no denying that Manchester United are having a abysmal season. It’s so bad, in fact, that it is hard to believe that just a couple of months ago, this was the team that lifted the Premier League trophy in victory.

However, this was done under the management of one of football’s best (if not the best) Sir Alex Ferguson. Now that Fergie has left, the team seems to struggle to get their mojo back with Moyes at the steer of things. And the fans are getting rather upset – obviously, the first person you blame for a teams (shockingly) bad performance is the new manager.

Well, Moyes might soon be unemployed – and we’re sure that many United fans won’t be upset.

According to ESPN, Manchester United boardroom meetings have turned into thorough discussions over whether or not to keep Moyes. With the team’s weak performance, board me members and club owners are growing more and more concerned about sponsorship deals.

Although Moyes was personally recommended as a replacement for Fergie, by the man himself, it does appear to seem as though Fergie might have made an error in judgment. It said that even Fergie is now in favour of Moyes’ sacking.

United are currently 7th on the Premier League log. A far cry from where they were sitting this time a year ago.

The team has also just faced a devastating (and embarrassing) loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. Here, United had to leave the field of their home ground with a lot of egg on their face after a 3-0 loss. It is also likely that they will NOT qualify for next year’s Champions League – something that is a hard thorn in the side of Moyes.

United’s next three games are said to be the deciding call for Moyes. Should they perform up to standard (or in their case, above standard) he gets to stay. However, should the team face another horrendous loss, it looks like Moyes’ will most likely be shown the door.

Manchester United will face Olympiakos next, then West Ham and a big game agains rivals Manchester City on March 26th.

The future looks quite grim for old Moyes. But only time will tell whether or not he will be bidding United adieu.
