Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, has just announced the squad that will take on Sudan in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, November 15th.

The game will no doubt be an emotional one for the team, as well as the fans, as this is the first game they will be playing without their captain and goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

Meyiwa was shot and killed in what appeared to be a botched armed robbery at his girlfriend’s house in Vosloosrus on October 26th.

Besides the fact that it will be an emotional game, it is also an incredibly important game. Should Bafana Bafana win this game against Sudan, they will automatically qualify for next year’s AFCON tournament.

Bafana is also in a good position to win the game, which will obviously have a positive impact on their emotional state.

The national team is currently on top of Group A with 8 points out of 4 games. Behind them in second place is Congo with 7 points, followed by Nigeria with 4 and at the bottom is Sudan with 3 points.

The match against Sudan at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on the 15th will be played n honour of Meyiwa.
